Double Standards for Democrats

Politician lie, no one will dispute that. John Kerry lied about his service record, Richard Blumenthal also lied about his service record. Joe Biden lied about his family history. These are all little known facts that are glossed over by the mainstream media, yet when Marco Rubio’s family history is called into question. Something that he hasn’t lied about, when he is raked over the coals by the mainstream media, the response is this will actually help him, after all if there is only thing conservatives can agree on is the loathing of the mainstream media.

Is it loathing, though to not want this double standard? Politicians all lie, cheat, and do things we despise. Yet when a Democrat does it we look the other way, and when a Republican does it there are congressional hearings and a public outcry for justice to be served.

The double standard does not stop though at lying. In 2004 for the protection of our nation, President George W. Bush declared war, on Iraq, a choice that was supported by congress on both sides of the aisle. A war that would later be dubbed the war over oil. Yet, when President Barack H. Obama decided to go to Libya, no one accused him of going to war over Oil. What is the difference between Iraq and Libya for oil production? According to the CIA, Iraq produces 2.85% of the world’s oil, while Libya produces 2.12%. It would make more sense if America was going to war over Oil for us to attack the Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, China, Canada, Mexico, United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Kuwait, or Venezuela. In other words, if either Bush or Obama wanted to go to war for oil, nine other options produce more oil than Iraq. In Obama’s case, three other nations produce more oil than Libya, between Iraq and Libya than there are thirteen nations that produce more oil than the two we went to war with. So why do we accuse Bush of going to war over oil, but not Obama? Because of the double standard, both Presidents have gone to war for their own reasons. Bush for national security. Obama? Not sure why he went to war with Libya, perhaps it really is for oil. After all, he had to know of the double standard between democrats and republicans, and that no one would question his desire to send troops into Libya. All jokes aside, neither President went into foreign countries for oil.

As long as we Americans allow this double standard to continue, it will. If we start questioning the motives and investigating seriously the actions of not only Republicans who lie but also Democrats. If we start questioning the motives of both Republicans and Democrats perhaps there would be a lot less shady deals, and lying in Washington. If all Americans join together in demanding a certain amount of honesty and accountability from our leaders, but it requires that Americans agree and get involved and stop the bickering at home. As long as we are divided on the issues, and bickering over unimportant things then there will always be a double standard, and our politicians and leaders will get away with lying to us and involving us in affairs that are not ours to begin with.

I think politicians on both sides of the aisle are afraid of the Tea Party for just the reason you wrote about here. The Tea Party is demanding honesty and integrity, neither of which most politicians believe in.

sheila b. Thanks for the comment. You are correct the Tea Party wants honesty and integrity, and Americans, whether you agree with the rest of what the Tea Party stands for or not should be on that same page. Can you imagine the impact we would have on Politics if everyone stood up and demanded honesty and integrity and reacted with swift justice for those who didn't meet our standards. This country would be a different place for sure.

Very, very well said - absolutely right on the money rachell - and I didn't know that about Rubio - so I learned something here too. Voted UP!

You're right about that!

It really gets frustrating at times doesn't it? Because it is so obvious that the politicians have no clue as to what - we the people - really want!

You hit the nail on the head here!! The MSM and most ALL dem talking heads I have seen are utterly shameless in their twisting of the facts. I have no doubt that BO knew he would never be challenged by the MSM no matter what he did/does. I was just explaining about Iraq to my daughter the other evening, and I was telling her how members of BOTH parties thought there were WMD's there, and BOTH sides voted to go to war. We now know, the intelligence was WRONG, that still doesn't mean that Bush lies. Unlike Barry, he followed the constitution and went to congress for approval!!

CJV123: Thanks for the comment.

KarenN: Thanks for the comment.

SherriSapp: I heard it best on Mark Levin's show, Thursday night. A caller said, saying we went to Iraq for oil would be like saying we went to Vietnam for rice. Thanks for the comment.

You are right, we should stop bickering over trivial issues. I hope and pray all Americans unite and do what is best for the country and all generations.
