Looking ahead, there is a huge election coming up for Missouri in 2012, the Senatorial seat currently held by Claire McCaskill. McCaskill unless she changes in a big way over the next two years, or some miracle occurs in the economy she can accept that her bid for reelection isn't going to happen. Siding with the Obama, Pelosi, Reid crowd on everything and harming Missouri's economy with policies that the good people of Missouri are against them.

So here is a look at three of the Possible Candidates on the Republican Ticket to run against McCaskill.

Sarah Steelman

Currently the Tea Party favorite, Sarah Steelman is the only person to say for sure that she is throwing her hat into the ring.

Steelman served as State Treasurer from 2004 to 2008, she decided that she wouldn't run for re-election instead made an unsuccessful bid for Governor in 2008 losing to Democrat Jay Nixon.

Prior to be elected State Treasurer, Steelman served as a Senator for the 16th state Senatorial seat. While serving in this position, Steelman chaired the Senate Committee on Commerce and the Environment. She served as a member of the Senate Committee on Aging, Families, Mental and Public Health; a member of the Senate Committee on Education; and a member of the Senate Committee on Governmental Accountability and Fiscal Oversight.

Jim Talent

Began his career in Politics in 1984, as a member of the Missouri House of representatives. He served eight years in that position before moving onto the position of Minority leader, a position he held until 1992, when he was elected to represent Missouri in congress in the 2nd district.

He served in the U.S. House for eight years, and in 2002 was elected to Represent Missouri in the United States Senate. Unfortunately his bid for re-election was lost to Clair McCaskill in 2006.

Looking back over the time he spent in the U.S. Congress, Talent served as Assistant Majority Leader under Congressman Dick Armey, (R. Texas), at which time he was able to introduce the Real Welfare Reform Act of 1994, the bill that subsequently became the basis for the historic bipartisan welfare reform bill, the Personal Responsibility Act of 1996; which resulted in 4.2 million people moving from dependency on the Government to jobs and self-sufficiency.

During his time on the Armed Forces Committee he fought not only against the Democrats, but also against members of the Republican Party to assure that there were no cuts in the funding or size of the military, believing that a strong well funded defense is necessary to protect our nation.

In the past Talent has fought hard for Missouri, although he said he won't decide until January of 2011 whether or not he will run for Senate in 2012.

Chuck Purgason

Was the Tea Party candidate for the U.S. Senate for Missouri, in the previous election. He lost the Republican primary to Roy Blunt, however there are many in the Missouri Tea Party that would like this gentleman to run again for Senate.

He served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 1996 until 2004, and served in the Missouri State Senate from 2004 until 2010. During his run for the U.S. Senate, he stood with his beliefs and for Missouri, against the rest of the Missouri Senate, filibustered a bill that he felt would only hurt the state, and effectively hurt his bid against Roy Blunt. Knowing that standing up for what he believes and risking his run shows what kind of man Purgason is.

Purgason has held positions of authority in both the Missouri House, and the Missouri Senate. He was the Majority Whip, Chairman of the Committee on Appropriations for Health, Mental Health and Social Services, he also served on the Rules Committee and Workforce Development and Workplace Safety Committee, as well as a senior member of the Budget committee.

Right now Sarah Steelman is the only candidate who has announced she will run. It is anticipated that this Senatorial Election will be much like the 2010 election and there will be quite a few individuals who run in the Republican Primary. As more information becomes available about the possible Candidates I will update, and write up more.

We in Missouri need to be completely aware of who we are voting for, and who we are getting in Washington, if we plan on getting this country back on track.

I lived in Kansas City, Missouri fro a year back in the 1960's. I didn't know the local politics but there seemed no hesitation on both sides to accuse their opponents of being crooks and worse. We couldn't vote anyhow because they had a residency requirement of a year back then. Always an interesting state.

dahoglund: Thanks for the comment. I know it's a little soon, I just think it's a good idea to get this information out there as soon as possible so that voters can make an educated decision.
