Why the Media wants Romney to Win the GOP Nomination
84
Mitt Romney
Perhaps the most Liberal of the GOP's candidates, the Media's darling Mitt Romney is ahead of the other candidates. The media across the board from Fox News to USA Today has declared that Romney is the only candidate who could possibly beat Obama. This claim is being made not because Conservatives have spoken but because he is the most liberal of all the candidates. True Conservatives want a Conservative leader, and Mitt Romney doesn't fit that bill. One of the first Governors to pass Socialized Medicine, Romney's healthcare eerily resembles Obamacare. Yet the Media will come out on the side Romney, ignoring his downfalls, perhaps because they feel that they can affect the outcome of the election. If Romney runs against the Obama we might as well vote for Obama, the outcome will be the same.
From the Wall Street Journal to Fox News, the golden boy of the GOP has become Mitt Romney. There is really only one purpose to list him as the golden boy. He has no chance at all of winning. Given the various candidates currently considering a bid for the presidency, and the ones who have thrown their hat into the race, the only one who has a zero chance of beating Obama is Romney. If he wins the nomination he will be tied to Warren Jeff's, and the election will once again be handed to Obama.
What The News is Saying
Fox News writes that Mitt Romney is the Republican voters' preferred candidate. "He's also the GOP contender more voters see as likely to do a good job in the White House."-- Fox News
Who are these voters that Fox News has been interviewing? Are they Conservatives? Are they members of the Tea Party? Probably not, at this point, Conservatives are torn between three candidates Michelle Bachman, Herman Cain and Rick Perry. Perry hasn't even announced his bid yet and some Conservatives see him as the candidate.
Talking Points Memo, believes that Romney is the default frontrunner in this election because of his prior experience. If anything though that should be the thing that holds him back. People are tired of career politicians. They also write that he has strength in fundraising, and national polling. Elections have moved from what is best for this country to what the polls say and how much money a candidate will spend. -- Talking Points Memo
The Houston Chronicle, in their op-ed on how Perry could win, states that polls currently place Romney in first place followed by Rudy Guiliani, and one has to wonder if they are referring to this election or the 2008 Presidential race. They have the two candidates trailing Obama by only 5 percentage points behind at 41 to 46 and 48 to 43 percent of the votes, respectively. Former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty is further with 13 percentage points between his 36 and Obama’s 49 percent. Next up is Minnesota congresswoman Michele Bachmann, whose 35 percent of the votes would pale next to Obama’s 52 percent.-- Houston Chronicle.
Even the Wall Street Journal has jumped on the band wagon of suggesting that Romney is the only candidate who can beat Obama. Wall Street Journal
As far as USA Today is concerned though, the GOP debates didn't even start until Romney joined the running. Forget that Cain blew away the first debate, USA Today called the first debate with Romney in it as the first major GOP Debate, once again making it appear as though everyone in the Republican Party is in love with this candidate. They conclude with the idea that Romney is "building a modest lead in a political climate that could be well-suited to his candidacy."USA Today

What the People are Saying
A recent Poll conducted on the CBS website has 42% of participants stating that Ron Paul would win the Iowa Straw Poll, whereas only 16% voted for Mitt Romney. Suggesting at least of the Iowa Straw Poll the general public isn't to anxious to see Romney win, he comes in behind, Paul, and Bachman.
What about Social Networking? Facebook and Twitter are all the rage in this election. With fan sites, and support groups for the various fans.
For Facebook at least, the number of fans for Sarah Palin exceeds those of Mitt Romney. Suggesting that if likes were votes and the election were held tomorrow Palin would win in a landslide.
But the Media Hates Palin
It is true, the Media is not to fond of former Governor Sarah Palin and has gone out of the way to make her look bad. Could she beat Obama? Is that why the Media is so terrified of Governor Palin? She hasn't announced her bid for the presidency. She has hung back, stating firmly that she won't run, but all the while gathering fans, and making long winded speeches. If Palin does throw her name into the running, we can assume that she will give Romney a run for his money, whether the national media would like to admit that or not.

Oh...second point. I think if Rick Perry gets in it will be a game changer!
Sarah Palin is a good human being I think. She is as strong as an ox, and solidifies conservatives, but thanks to a left sided media, is nothing but a distraction as a candidate. By the way, I was informed over a month ago that she's jumping in. She has made the decision to be at the rally I'm speaking at. Hence the event got postponed from July 30th to this Labor Day weekend.
Mitt Romney will not over come his timid, stiff image, and as you mentioned .. Romney Care.
Bachman is a little thin skined, and a bit hyper. You don't get that feeling of confident control. This will make voters nervous as time goes on.
That leaves us with Perry as the rest of the field are little more than bit actors. As usual, the person who would be our best president will not get the nomination. We will nominate the only bonified Obama beater, and that's Rick Perry. Perry WILL put a Texas size ass whuppin on Obama, unless something absolutey crazy happens early on. We'll replace Obama, but we will have to stay active as Perry comes with some problems. He's a political Frankenstine, and Frankenstine sometimes gets out of control. THP is growing steadly, but we're laying very low until membership hits a pre determined mark, then it'll be heavy, and it will be powerful. My strategy is the most difficult for quick growth, but is the best for impact and effectivness in getting things done. Once we make our move, growth will be massive. The reason I bring this up is that there is much more at stake than getting rid of this administration. It's the first step, but only a baby step. The game itself is rigged in favor of career politicians, and this is where the can of worms lies. As you know THP is focused on ruining these criminal's game plan for stuffing their pockets at the expence of ruining this country.
Good stuff kid. Sorry for jumping in and seemingly trying to up stage you. That's not cool and I hate it when people try and do it to me, but I felt this was important.
You're a patriot and a warrior. Love ya for that my sister.
jim
P.S. Watch the news Saturday. I'm almost certain this is when Perry will make his anncouncement. See if I'm right!

I want to see Perry enter the race. If Magilla Gorilla was running against Obama I would vote for Magilla.
Dear rachell,
Spoiled milk could win against Obama now. Let's hope it stays that way.
The economies all over the world are tumbling after each other, the oppositions are growing extra muscles, Obama or the contenders? no body can do magic all are political actors on the political stage.
Thanks for the write-up.
I would argue that Jon Huntsman is "more liberal" than Romney. Jim, I don't agree that Perry would make the best president. I think he may be too simple minded.
Although there are numerous gripes I have about this hub and the comments that follow I will keep them to myself. I just would like to inject a different "perspective" into this forum of opinions... Did you know that a United States Military officer is legally bound NOT to speak negatively against a commander in chief AKA The President? Why do you folks think that is? Under article 88 of the UCMJ(uniform code of military justice) officers are not allowed to use "contemptuous words" against the President, Vice-President, Secretary of Defense, and other specified high government officials. You know why? Because they are the ones calling the shots. In the military it doesn't matter if you like your boss or not the simple fact is they're your boss... Deal with it. Now obviously civilians have no such limitations but I would like to think that at least folks have common sense. Socialized, Obamacare, the media going out its way to make Palin look bad? Really!? REALLY!? Now I doubt there are wealthy contributors or commentators here on this hub so I am going to assume you all are middle class. Now as middle class Americans I would hope you all realize this President who you hate so much is fighting a very very difficult battle to make your lives more fair and balanced. While I am not saying the President can do no wrong I am just saying given the situation he is in I believe he is doing a great job. Also consider that John Boehner vowed to do everything he could to keep the health care bill from passing... Of course you all understand that the health care bill provides such provisions as,Non-discriminatory coverage for all Americans (e.g., no more pre-existing conditions exclusions, Government assistance to make insurance costs affordable for individuals, Coverage of children until they reach age 26,Preventive care and wellness, Elimination of lifetime and annual limits on coverage and Expanded Medicaid coverage for the poor... Of course you folks knew that already huh. The same John Boehner who opposes net neutrality laws and also vowed to stop them from ever happening... The same laws that the flipping inventors of the internet protocols all of you are utilizing are proponents of... Of course you all knew that too... It must just be my blinding ignorance that makes me feel sorry for the President of the United States. I mean why should I feel bad for a PERSON who stands up for and advocates on behalf of a group of easily misguided unusually hostile Americans who genuinely feel disgusted with him and his uh umm... Policies? Is that right? You guys hate his POLICIES right? Man I must be dumb because I thought I was paying attention to his policies and they seemed pretty good to me. Eh you fine upstanding conservatives obviously know better than I do after all your opinions seem so strong and valid ha.
I will try to keep this response brief and without sarcasm but understand that it is very difficult... If you are not already a millionaire then how on earth can you assume a millionaires life would become miserable due to higher taxes? You should understand that wealthy individuals who choose corruption and greed over hard work and ethical behavior make your life miserable as well as mine. The individuals you cited as being successful are not successful because of hard work they are wealthy through either inheritance or celebrity (or their opinions if you will). Trump is a whole other ballgame, I will save the commentary and just suggest you look into his fathers life and not into his less than competent history. I don't even know what to tell you about the changing of the constitution because that statement bears no factual evidence in any reality I know of. I presented facts to inject a different perspective into the comments so I will concede that it didn't address the hub directly. I apologize I realize I got carried away (in my defense I can be long winded at times.) I would love to be well of if not necessarily rich but I would also love for you to be well off as well so there isn't an argument there. Also the media despite how it seems doesn't "want" a candidate to become president they merely bring up relevant information so that the educated voters can base their votes on facts instead of rhetoric (unless it is FOX news of course or many Christian conservative talk radio programs) If I were you I would feel a bit angry about being lied to from a trusted source. I will end this response without resorting to childish sarcasm or rhetoric but by simply stating a few things that are relevant to why you are wrong in your assumptions about me based on my comment.
I have worked a job since the age of 11 (paper route) I have not once gone more than two onths unemployed since that time. I was in the ARMY for five years during which time I served as a mechanic (we worked 18 hour days on average) I am a decorated combat veteran with over 400 convoy security gunner missions under my belt and over two years of Iraqi Freedom Service time. While in the ARMY I also volunteered for several extra qualifications that include combat life save certification, wrecker operator, fuel handler and a couple others I don't really like to talk about. My unit I deployed with was what is known as a rapid deployment unit and we were in country for the beginning of that pointless war during which time we worked twenty hour days with four hours of sleep for eight months straight and maintained a fleet of over 200 vehicles at 98% operational readiness while myself and several other "mechanics" simultaneously performed combat operations we were never properly trained or equipped for. Since I have left the military I did not just simply lose my work ethic and become lazy or lethargic I actually became depressed and demoralized due to the civilian populations disrespect and ignorance of other peoples struggles and points of view. Since re-entering civilian life and dealing with depression I still maintained steady employment with blue collar hard working industries that further depressed me because my civilian coworkers who never experienced military work ethic or values seemed to be happy slacking off and letting others do their work for them. So while I broke my back putting in hard work and effort I was surrounded by lazy ethically unfit peers who could care less that their actions were detrimental to all those around them. Despite all of this I currently work 18 hours or more a day at both an hourly wage "job" and as a freelancer with no personal time and zero savings. I do all this just to pay the rent and eat.. During the Holiday break my young college roommates who I share a house with left for vacation and didn't pay their bills so on November 20th my electricity and water was shut off... I live in central Ohio and needless to say it was cold. Despite this extremely uncomfortable situation I continued to work and on Christmas day instead of being with my family in Washington D.C. I started building a website (I taught myself how about a year ago) On New Years Eve I completed that website and it is actually live as I am writing this you can find the link on my profile page here on hubpages. I did not feel sorry for myself or sink into deeper depression but instead with no heat or running water I worked, I am not lazy and I do not want something for nothing. I simply know your point of view as well as other perspectives from a wide range of personal opinions. I choose not to spend my time feeling sorry for the things I don't have and instead work very hard to achieve my goals. What you may fail to realize is that your talking points and opinions are those of wealthy individuals and not the middle class of which YOU and I are apart of. I do not wish to change your mind I just hope that you can understand that there are things that you do not know and are misinformed about and those things are keeping this nation blind and ignorant while we are being robbed blind. So once again I apologize for being so long winded and I apologize for posting an apparently irrelevant lengthy comment on your Hub but as you can see I have a lot to feel strongly about. Oh and I believe if Romney does take over as the next president I am OK with that his policies don't seem horrible and his morals and values are superior to many of the current elected officials in office. (I lived in Utah for about four years and Mormons are not cult following crazy people they are just like everyone else but in my opinion a whole lot more pleasant to be around.)
You didn't have to approve it.

I agree with your overall analysis except for one major point. A vote for Romney is NOT the same as a vote for Obama. Obama is a hard core socialist where Romney is a liberal capitalist. As much as I don't like Romney, he would still be MUCH better for the USA then our current President.
